On February 17th SEA and YOU returned with its second stop: PORTO. Once again it was a huge success. A beautiful event combining the musical traditions of Flamenco, Fado and Canzone Napoletana Classica in a single concert. Here, the artists from three different countries played toghether their own music on the stage of the portuguese city. Discover below the details of what happened during the second stop of the SEA and YOU tour!
Upon their arrival in Porto on the evening of February 16th, the artists of Naples and Granada were welcomed by the Portuguese artists and staff and all together they gathered for dinner at the restaurant Vícios de Mesa Restaurant – Maus Hábitos: here they tasted typical dishes of Portuguese culinary culture.
Soon after, all together they went to the Ideal Clube de Fado where they made a small tour and attended a private Fado show. After the show, a lesson was held by Daniel Gouveia and he talked about the history, the evolution of Fado and the linkages to Flamenco and Classical Neapolitan Song.
On February 17th, at 9:40 am the artists gathered and went to visit the Clérigos Tower: a stone tower, national symbol of the city of Porto since 1910. They also had the opportunity to visit the Museum and Church. Afterwards, they all went to Casa da Música, the first building in Portugal that is solely dedicated to music, both for public presentation and enjoyment, as well as for artistic training and creation. Here they spent some quality time and had the opportunity to relax and relieve anxiety before the concert.
Then they had lunch at Casa da Música restaurant and it was the moment for a toast pre-concert. To a beautiful second show for SEA and YOU!
Soon after, it was time for soundcheck for all the artists and rehearsals for the show.
It’s time to perform: 9:30 pm, the theater is full (600 seats), the lights are on, the instruments in position. The show begins.
The presentation of the show was entrusted to Sandra Salomé who explained, in English and Porotguese, what is SEA and YOU, a project co-funded by the European Union, introduced the artists and their repertoire.
The first to perform were the Spanish artists with their Flamenco, followed by the Neapolitan artists with the Classical Neapolitan Song and finally the hosts, the Portoguese artists with their Fado show.
The show ended with the performance on the notes of ‘O mare e tu‘ by the whole ensemble, with the voices of Isa de Castro and Miguel Xavier for Fado, Manuela Renno and Alessandro Colmaier for Classical Neapolitan Song, Jihan, Nano Cortés and Jara Heredia for Flamenco.
On Sunday, appointment at 11:30 am at Ideal Clube do Fado for a small gathering: the artists shared their opinions and feelings about the past show and talked about the experience in general.
